Well Hannah and Simon said their goodbyes this morning, sad times. The week has flown by! Thanks to Si for cooking most nights, a rare treat for me! Tom even cooked too! We cycled and kayaked and drank plenty of whisky. Thanks for the Benromach too guys!
Last night we had a fire/bbq in the garden, and Si cooked us Sea Bream, accompanied by turnip salad, roasted potatoes, wood sorrell and reindeer moss from the hill. Yum. Miss you lots already! See you both in January x
This afternoon Tom and I cycled the Balgy circular from work. It was the steepest hill I’ve ever done and it was hard work!! Absolutely knackered after that, but psyched to get fit legs for the first time in my life! Bring on the biking 🙂
Today I cleaned a poo of a shower! Errrrr! On the up side, every time there isn’t one there I’ll be happy! Other good things; I got to clean the boathouse today, lovely views
Off back to work for turn down again soon but only two more before a proper night off, then rhododendron burning on the Ben Damph estate for Charlie on Wednesday. Back outside!! Hopefully that’ll make sure I have some money for christmas too.
“Alway’s look on the briiiiight side of life..”
Hannah and Simon are here! Woo! Wednesday night we all went for dinner at the hotel and it was yummers!
Yesterday Hannah and I cycled 21 miles from home, to the Coulin estate, round and back. And I only fell off once!
Tom and Simon scrambled up the northen pinnacles of Liatatch and across the ridge.
I was going to cook dinner but the boys weren’t back until late so we went to the Inn for food. Well it was payday after all..
Back to work today, washy washy! 🙂
It was my first day of my new job today. Yes, the third one in three months! I am now a housekeeper, and so far so good! It’s no gardening but at least it suits me slightly better than the Inn. A happy medium!
I get a work out and get to spend time in rooms with a view. Can’t be bad.
This is a bed I made. And on the way home I saw a cow in the river. Silly cow.
Night all x
A nice lie in on Sunday morning before checking out the cows and pig at work, then heading out to the Coulin estate for an afternoon walk.
Tom did a good samaritan deed and parked a lady’s car for her before we got going!
On the way we saw lots of frogs. Mostly dead, some alive, and lots of dragonflies. All alive I’m pleased to report!
Got home and cracked open the wine (girls) and the beer (boys) and watched a couple of films whilst dinner cooked.
We went to the Inn around 9 as it was Stuart’s birthday, and I owed him a death cocktail! Payback for my birthday!
The party ended up at our house after last orders, so a fire was made and the bbq come dj table was put into action!
Lots of merriment ensued, and a highlight was Colin cooking the contents of our fridge at 2am and making an amazing meal with Charlotte as Su Chef! A good time had by all I think!
The next morning Charlotte, Richard and I went for breakfast as we had no food left at home. Then back to bed until it was time to drive them to the airport and say our goodbyes!
Thanks for coming guys, it’s been awesome and I can’t wait to see you both in January! Bum buddies fo’ life! Xxx
Charlotte and Richard arrived on friday night! Woo! We picked them up from Inverness and made it back to ours for midnight.
Saturday the weather was alright so we went kayaking. We saw loads of seals and were followed by them for most the trip. Stopped for lunch on Kyle’s party peninsula and watched the world go by for a while.
The paddle back was met with immense crosswinds which made it interesting! But we powered through and made it back before it got too rough! For Richard’s first time kayaking it was quite a test!
Got back pretty soggy, then chilled out for and hour before taking a walk to Torridon via the deer park.
Home, shower and change, then out for dinner at the Inn. The Lochcarron session band were on, though had a soothing effect on us and we were back and in bed by 11 after a long day in the fresh air!
Last day at the Inn today 🙂
Looking forward to housekeeping with Gordo and the gang from Tuesday! Here’s some things I’ll miss….
And here’s the last drink I’ll ever make!!
With fresh mint from the garden. Awwww yeah!
Finally experiencing the true Scottish weather as of last night. A lot of rain! Strange how it doesn’t spoil a place like this though. It’s still beautiful!
Loads of new waterfalls all over the place and the rivers are ripe for kayaking, just need a day off now! Tom will be out making the most of it with the boys tomorrow. Slightly jealous!!
It relented for a short while this evening and we got a lovely moody sunset sky. Ah Scotland. I love you!
