God’s County

We’re back in the beautiful Yorkshire as of Friday night! So far we’ve seen my Mother, had a walk around Harrogate, been to Simon and Hannah’s in Sheffield and made a lot of origami!

We’re currently residing at Mum and Dad Tindale’s in bed! We’ve been fed excellently so far, thanks to everyone! Our roast last night was stellar!
On the agenda today is breakfast, then visiting Jack, Kat and Bob the otter dog! Tomorrow, it’s back to Harrogate then off to the lake district! Busy busy! Post soon!

Jack, kat and salty sea Bob

Jack and Kat have arrived! Along with little Bob the otter dog!
Bear’s ‘enjoying’ another doggy sleepover for the next few days! Today we went for a paddle, colleted mussels and did a bit of fishing.

Tom caught a fish!! Pro skills! We cooked it when we got home and it was really tasty! The mussels are soaking, ready for dinner tomorrow 🙂

Home by the fire Bob got warm after his first Canoe trip!

What a gorgeous day, Eighe!

What a great day! Perfect winter walking conditions on Ben Eighe, beautiful blue skies and perfect snow! It was my first time out with crampons and an ice axe and Tom is a great teacher!

The walk to the first summit was amazing. I practiced lots of winter skills; kicking steps, cutting steps and then walking in different ways with crampons!
The summit was rather windy so we only stopped for a mouthful of chocolate and a special ‘selfie’!

We headed off across the ridge to the next summit, practicing self-arrests and generally larking about on a snowy slope on the way!
Along another ridge then we made it to our descent gully packed with deep powder 🙂
We got to the bottom and it’s a beautiful amphitheatre of mountains and gullies, with the famous triple buttress to the left of us.

We made it back to the road just as it was getting dark and made the trek back to the car.
Home, fed and showered now, fire on and relaxing for the night. The hips have taken a battering but I’m feeling great! Thanks Tom for the tutoring.
Happy happy 🙂

Windy winter mountain

Today we went up Ben Damph. It started in the rain but that was replaced by ridiculous wind that knocked me off my feet several times! Tom had to be my wind block on some sections!

As we got onto the first ridge we found snow and ice, and the summit was completely covered. Unfortunately no views from the top, just a full white out! A good day though and a good introduction to winter mountaineering for me. Despite the hail in the face and brain freeze from the wind 🙂

Back and cosy infront of the fire for the night now. Yay 🙂

And…. Relax!

Holidays are here! We shut the hotel down on Thursday and now it’s six weeks off to relax, explore, play and visit Yorkshire!
Friday was written off but yesterday we went for a walk with David, Marie and Aisla, the new chefs from work and their jack russell 🙂 dogs are great!
Tom and I put on drinks and nibbles last night and we all stayed up chatting until the wee hours. Cat wasn’t impressed at the doggy sleepover but Aisla was more scared of her!
We planned to go up Ben Damph today however the lack of sleep has put the plans off until tomorrow. So it’s another lazy day in the Tindale-Harriss homestead!
Feeling slighty guilty but one day off, one day on is a good plan I think!
Have a good day everyone x
