Sea kayaking adventure

Mummy and Georgia have visited!! ย They arrived Tuesday night and we had a nice evening playing scrabble and drinking coffee.

image

Wednesday we got up and organised ourselves for an epic sea kayak journey from Shieldaig to Diabaig, for dinner at the new restaurant, Gille Bridghe.

Image

Shuttle complete, we were on the water for two o’clock, and set off paddling up shielding peninsula to the narrows of Upper Loch Torridon for an open crossing.

The wind went crazy and we crossed and it was had going but fun! Georgia started singing naval hymns to ensure safe passage and finally, after battling the elements we arrived at a lovely pebble/boulder beach and had a leg stretch.

We set off again and the wind was persisting with us! Another hard paddle and we made it to a sheltered cove where we floated a while and ate chocolate, watching the cormorants in their nests above us.

Energy renewed, we set off once again, into the wind, and round the final few peninsulas before Diabaig.ย

As we rounded the corner to Diabaig, all hell broke loose! The wind went even wilder, and we had to paddle a narrow gap that was effectively a wind tunnel into Diabaig bay, where we then had to fight our way into the wind and round the shoreline to find some relative shelter!! Everyone worked mega hard, and Georgia described Tom as ‘a floating Jesus’, all calm in the centre of the ‘storm’ (wind), making sure they kept paddling and made it across! ๐Ÿ™‚ One last short open crossing, straight into the wind and…

We’d made it! Hooray!

An awesome meal at Gille Bridghe, and we drove home in the sunset to sleeeeeeep! ๐Ÿ™‚

Today we went to the garden, tended plants, went to get lunch from Torridon Store and… We got the keys for the new house! Woohoo! So we went to visit it before they left for Yorkshire! *(miss you guys already!) Now we can finally move some stuff in! ๐Ÿ™‚ Soooooooo happy!!ย

Updates on the house will follow shortly I imagine! Love to everyone! Adios! x

Hello, hello

We are still alive and well, just not been a lot to report! Lot’s of work, gardening and lazing around ๐Ÿ™‚
Looking forward to the mother and sister visiting again next week! Plus I will get my owl upholstered dining chairs back for the new house ๐Ÿ™‚ woop.
We have a moving date of the 2nd June. Just less than a year in Torridon and we will have our own place ๐Ÿ™‚
Here are some photos from the past week or so.

Plus we’ve been eating lovely veg for the past week

In other news, Bear caught. Her first bird at 12 years old! She brought it to us, let it go and it flew off again! I managed to let it out the window which it seemed pleased about! Bear was miffed but I gave her some dreamies and shut her in for the night! I feel bad for the bird but very pleased with Bear for becoming a real cat!! Night all!

The Beasts!

We said goodbye to my Uncle and the amazing cars this morning. Have a fun drive back to Glasgow!ย

Picked some fresh veg from David’s garden for dinner tonight too ๐Ÿ™‚ Yum

Biking and a FERRARI!!!!

Saturday night we had the van packed and we headed south to the Cairngorms for a mini biking adventure ๐Ÿ˜€

Image

We made it to Aviemore for midnight. Just in time to snuggle into our bags and get some shut eye. A great first camping trip in the ambulanceย ๐Ÿ™‚

We woke up Sunday morning to some perfect biking weather, visited bothy bikes at Aviemore for some spares and went to Laggan Wolftrax, a mountain bike trail centre near loch Laggan.

ย

Thereโ€™s over 30km of trails and it was a lot different to the wild mountains of Torridon! Very fast and a lot of corners. One of which caught me out and resulted in injury for both me and the bike! Some grazes and a bruised ego for me and a tear in the seat. Argh!

Tom was styling it all as expected, getting some air off the jumps and sliding round corners, and I managed to ride uphill without stopping which I was pleased about! I love my bike!

Tom's crazy hair and mad beard. It's gone now..

It was a good day, finished by a brew, a drive, a shop, anotherย drive and finally home to feed the cat and go to bed! ๐Ÿ™‚ย

Monday Morning we went to view the potential new Tindale-Harriss Homestead in Shieldaig. Exciting stuff! The pictures aren’t particularly exciting but here’s one anyway;

After the house viewing we did this;

Then went to chill at Scott’s for the afternoon in the sun on the front lawn ๐Ÿ™‚ Lovely.

Back to work Tuesday and my Uncle Ant arrived with two friends from London, for a lad’s birthday weekend in fast cars! They had a ferrari, a lambourgini and an Aston Martin AND I got to drive the Ferrari 458 Italia!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ Tom is a little bit Jealous I think!ย

We went for dinner this evening (Wednesday) at the hotel, had AMAZING food and enjoyed plenty of whisky in the bar afterwards!! Loved spending some time with my Uncle and friends driving, shooting and eating ๐Ÿ™‚ Better get to sleep now though, Night all!
