Well, I survived the work weeks so we packed up the land rover with dogs and archery stuff and headed to Wales for Jools and Janey’s wedding.
We spent the weekend camping at Cae Mabon retreat and stayed the night in a hobbit house 🙂 lots of fun was had and a nice walk around the lake and through Llanberis on Saturday with the dogs.
Sunday we went for a walk in Llanberis pass before heading cross country to Northumberland, to visit Mum and Dad Tindale in their lovely new home! We pulled in to a rather grand driveway where the Winnie and Murphy met Meg dog and set free in the garden. Cups of tea and a tour before bed 🙂
Monday morning, breakfast and a trip to Holy Island to walk the dogs on the beach and managed to walk on the only part of the island coast that wasn’t sandy! 🙂 still a nice walk though!
Back at the house we had archery and bacon sandwiches on the front lawn, before setting out on the journey home to the cat.
I had a relaxing week off while Tom was busy working, then it was the weekend again, and time for Applecross Marquee Dance. We worked Saturday before going over and meeting friends on the beach front and setting up camp. Dog fun and drinking ensued, before going dancing until the early hours to a great band Rhythm n Reel.
The morning after we went to the Walled Garden for a hangover cure breakfast then whiled away the hours by the sea, before going home and getting a good nights sleep 🙂
Back at work now, looking forward to Shieldaig Fête this weekend! 2015 has been great so far and so much more to come! Hope yours is too! Bye for now
Exciting news, Shieldaig Outdoor Adventures went live online last week! We had over ten enquiries in the first day!
Currently we can provide walking, canoe hire, archery and camping trips.
We have had our first booking too 🙂
So so proud of Tom for pursuing the dream, and making it happen. Next year we will be in full swing!
Since last post we have been on our trial land rover camp with the two dogs, been boating, fishing and dog walking!
And Winnie the whippet turned one year old on the 2nd July!
Now for two and a half weeks at work before our trip to Wales. Already almost one week down so its going well, and a job interview for me to look forward to when we return! Fingers crossed! Send me your good luck please!
Happy summer holidays!
Hello! Where does time go?! Two months have passed, we have adopted a dog and acquired a boat (with an engine!) and Shieldaig Outdoor Adventures can trade as of tomorrow!! Woohoooo! We still have a lot more equipment to purchase but all the archery gear is en route and we have canoes available to hire 🙂
Our new dog Murphy came to live with us on the 10th June, his original owner is moving to Switzerland at the end of the week.
He is a lovely collie x lab 10yr old. A little overweight and arthritic, but full of energy and there’s life in the old dog yet 🙂 He has been having some good adventures with us already.
And him and Winnie are good dog friends and allies.
(Think they want something… )
Tom has had lots of work on gardening and maintenance, and next month is helping on a major film production on Ben Shieldaig! (No names yet people)
Unfortunately I’ll be working the week they’re in Shieldaig 😥 but hopefully he can get me an autograph!!
Looking forward to a trip to Wales next month too for Jools and Janey’s wedding 🙂
Mum and Dad Tindale, we intend to see you on the way down!
Here are some more photos of the dogs. Bye for now!
The animals wanted my food.
Tom and a nice sunset.
Up t’hill near t’house.
Pushed the bikes to the top of this hill several times this week.
But it’s a good view.
Arty farty photo.
Took the future pro’s on a ride. Fitter than I am!
Group selfie maaaan!
Phew, the birthday weekend party is over and the last guests have left. Peace and tranquility has been restored in Shieldaig.
The fun started early with Jack and Kat arriving on Wednesday evening with Bob dog.
Thursday we were working again but that evening Toms cousin Neil arrived and we had the first BBQ of the year on the fire pit with a few too many beers. Friday we went for a walk around the peninsula and took the dogs swimming. Winnie got her legs wet!
Saturday we had a great breakfast on the fire and went fishing from the pontoon before the boys went to town to pick up Charlotte and Hollie dog.
No luck with fish I’m afraid. But the hot chocolate from Nanny’s was a good consolation.
Saturday night we partied until all the drink was gone and it was 4am. A great night with great people 🙂
Sunday we had a walk to cure the hangover then died on the sofa for the evening! Last day of rest before the guys drive home.
Now we are chilling on the sofa, everyone having left us. The dog is sparked out, the cat has come out of hiding and the kettle has been on every half an hour 🙂
Happy 30th year Tom xxxxxxxxxxx
Happy birthday beautiful!! This is a photo of when you were young and good looking 😉
We are partying all next weekend so celebrations will have to wait until then! Hope you enjoy your first day of being 30!! Time to get responsible now 🙂
Thank you for being the best man I know and just generally being great! Here is to your 30th year and our third together, excited to see what the future holds 🙂
Love you xxxxx
Hello! I guess this will be a sporadic blog from now on as life seems to be getting in the way! 2015 has got off to a great start with us in charge of ourselves, just enjoying life with the animals and the mountains! Tom has been working chopping trees and other manly things as well as getting Shieldaig Outdoor Adventures up and running (coming soon)
We have been on business courses, and stayed in a fancy hotel
Toms beard got huge (gone now!)
Mother Harriss visited
We’ve spent great days with friends
Great days in bed
Great days in the great outdoors
The bear is still going strong
And there has been this sunset
Goodbye for now! I’m making no promises on the next post this time although I get to visit my new nephew tomorrow so there may be one when I return home next week… But yeah, no promises! Adios!
No work more fun!! Tom has been business planning and setting up Shieldaig Outdoor Adventures and has now gone off to Norway for some training with the Torridon and Kinlochewe mountain rescue team!
I start my new job tomorrow! 🙂
Here is the month in pictures:
You got it! Happy New Year!
2014 was a great year overall, we got our new forever home in the best village in the highlands, met some wonderful people that have truly enhanced our lives, gained a new family member (who has taken over our life), had some wild nights out and some fantastically regular cosy nights in!
We have fished for tea in Loch Shieldaig, biked all over and scaled a few mountains. Physically and metaphorically.
We’ve had a few tough times, being stuck here and missing several friends weddings births and celebrations, and the work situation went suddenly and severely downhill, although it’s now a new year, and we look forward to moving onwards and upwards, and forgetting the small amount of absolute laughable bullshit that tainted a great year for us.
2015 looks to be bringing some more great stuff our way though, with the arrival of my nephew Jack in 8 weeks to get excited about! Tom is edging into maturity with his 30th birthday in April, bringing friends to visit and party with and we will both have new jobs 🙂
I start my new role as a self employed live-in carer on the 26th January, and Tom is hopeful on the job front with some good applications processing. Send us your good luck vibes!!
So here is to a month off of relaxing, exploring and generally enjoying life and the good things in it.
Wishing you all a happy healthy and fun 2015, from the Tindale-Harriss homestead.
(The two Bears are unavailable for photos)
We were at work today but have finished early and had a nice evening in, cooked and attempted to eat half a cow, and finished the meal with hot chocolate log and ice cream 🙂 The pets were happy with the beef!
Thank you for all the gifts and love this year.We wish everyone a very happy Christmas and new year, and we are sorry we can’t be with you, although it looks like next year we will have Christmas off! 🙂 hooray!
Hope you all ate too much and enjoyed yourselves!
